Irish Rose

Today, I’ve posted a prose poem on Wattpad to celebrate my love of Ireland – its beauty, romance & song. As a dreamer, poet & singer I feel I’ve always been Irish in my heart.

Here is the link to ‘Irish Rose’ on Wattpad. Wattpad is a growing digital community of writers & readers who share their work for free. Irish Rose is also published in my collection, Space to Dream: Poems.

You can also listen to Irish Rose on Soundcloud, where I love to share my poems spoken aloud: Irish Rose: Spoken Word

Erin Go Bragh! Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Celebrate the love of the Irish. Thanks for stopping by Space to Dream. Have a wonderful weekend.

P.S. Here’s a recording of the beautiful Irish song Danny Boy that I’ve posted before – but will share it again for St. Patty’s Day. It’s from my college days at Illinois State University, where I sang with the Concert Choir & Madrigal Singers. Yes, I’m the really short soprano next to the really tall tenor in the middle. čÖé

In Celebration of Love

Celestial Embrace

Rushing liquid floats into

ice, pushing against its surface

the flow embarks and rises

over the icy top

forming one expanse of cold

a lake of winter’s embrace.

Underneath this chilled sheath

lies the angel, wings of a winter

waiting to be healed

a soul trapped, frozen

from the unyielding snow.

A gentle creature of an unknown world

emerges from depths of indigo

sensing her, he reaches out

heated fingertips

to brush the angel’s lips

parting their depths to the

star-strewn night sky.

Clouds bend at the touch

of the two souls in ‘midst of a

Gypsy dance

that spins and twirls

the ebb and flow of them

melting the icy shell of water.

Bubbles once captured in ice

turn to pixie dust, carrying them

to the smiling moon, that hangs in this

lavender night strewn with

angelic madness.

Lulls of a harp accompany

her soprano sighs

as he fills her bosom with

sweetened milk and her body

with his own.

Softly she speaks in the

hushed tone of one he possesses

deftly he enfolds her being

into his cradle.

Wrapped in this Universe for two

they float, making love like

slow honey

caught in this celestial bliss

next to the smiling moon.

Have a wonderful day celebrating love!-Stacie

´╗┐January’s Romance – Winter Inspired

The dawn of 2017 has so far been a cold one; here in Louisiana we’ve felt the chill of January, though we aren’t likely to see┬áany snow. As a romantic who has always loved the snow (though not, admittedly, driving in it or shoveling it) – I long for the Winter of my childhood, and the beauty of a January sun shining on glittering white fields. If you’ve read my book, Space to Dream, you know that nature & the seasons – and in particular, Winter, inspires my writing. Indeed, I am a child born of this season and find its sights, smells & chills continue to inspire me even while I live in the south. I hope you enjoy some of my new Winter poems, and that despite the chill – you are warm.

I lie under pink swirls of sky,

enveloped in sparkling snow blankets,

awaiting the chill of night,

her stark beauty, Winter’s kiss.

In a silent night of solstice moon,

we watch twinkling lights glisten,

Winter’s hush broken by angels,

voices beyond the stars.

She dreamt of a wild, free love,

Stars tangled in her hair on a moonlit winter night,

Snow melting on her skin in a fiery glow.

May Winter’s fairy kiss you,

By her snowfall may you dream,

Her heart-fire keeping you warm,

Whilst stories in your soul gleam.

Safe within this Fireside fantasy hold me tight,

Whisper sonnets of love to my delight,

Recite Keats & Shelley, Romantics bright.
